How to conceal window treatment installed on uneven interior exposed brick wall

I have exposed brick in my living room that is very uneven, old and pieces of steel rebar frame the top of my living room windows. I want to give my living room a more polished look and would like to conceal the hardware of my new curtains by creating a wooden overhang, eight inches wide near the ceiling. What would be lightest material to use to create such a fake facade?

Carpet Tiles in Bolt Country

Sounds like you're looking to create a valance.  If you're looking to use wood, you'll probably just want to browse through the pine selection at a place like home depot, but you'll likely need to stain or paint it.  Then you'd need small L type brackets to mount it to the ceiling.  Alternatively, you may want to consider creating a fabric valance that hangs from the ceiling... it doesn't have to be very wide, just enough to cover the hardware you're wanting to conceal.  This way, it'll be a light-weight solution that may turn into a nice unexpected detail, depending on the color you choose for it.  Best of luck

Have you thought of just adding a soft valance to hide your new rods?

a. a one inch rod pocket type valance is very light and you can make it the length needed. The bottom of the valance could be straight or shaped depending on your taste.

b.Nearly anything you use that is wooden will be heavy or it will possibly warp.

c. Is it possible to change out the existing rods for a decorative rod that is supposed to show?

Good luck

Lightest material is probably because of such a fake facade

Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination

Plywood is the lightest wood. Can be stained different colors and want warp unless you have a leak around the window when rain blows .Even if you put a light weight cloth over it and stapled it to the frame at the top it wouldnt show the back from the outside. Good luck with a cover up.
