My harddisk crashed (the disk had three partitions ...

My harddisk crashed (the disk had three partitions). Disk D was the disk with private data where I changed the security settings that I would be the only account.

Now I hooked this disk into another computer and can see the two other partitions again but no disk D. Is there a way to get back authorization on this partition or to recover the data

 I am running XP SP2

I'm pretty sure you can do it with NTFSDOS pro. It costs money, though.

You can also try booting the computer with a Linux live CD (like Knoppix) and try to mount the old disk. It might work.

I think there's also an option that the D partition is damaged and  that's why you can't access it.

The answer I got was sure needed if I was not lucky. But after doing several different trails with my system I managed to boot in the old situation, quickly recovered the data - and now throw the harddisk away Laughing
