I am using iMovie HD 6.03 on a G4 Dual 1.8 running OS 10.5.7, and Quicktime 7.6.2. I use a Sony Handycam HC96 via firewire. The video imports from MiniDV just fine. No connection problems until I attempt to export the edited video back to the camera.
As soon as the export begins, the (on-screen) iMovie camera connection switch toggles off. The export process continues but the final message is "LOST CONNECTION TO CAMERA".
I am trying to save projects back to MiniDV because this is the only format that Cable Public Access Television will accept them in. HELP!
You need to save to a memory card not back to the mini dv. Is this what you are trying to do? Maybe I am confused, any cable tv channel should accept a DVD format, correct?

No, I need to save back to MiniDV. Here's why...
I initially set out to make QuickTime movies for upload to youtube and I was successful at that. I store my backups on a Buffalo RAID.
Now I want to submit my work to public access television (cable) and the only formats they will accept are:
• S-VHS (SP / standard play, 2-hour speed only)
• BetaSP • MiniDV • DV/DVCPRO/DVCAM
They will not accept programs provided on VHS, VHS-C, Hi-8, 3/4 SPUmatic,
or DVD.
Tapes must begin with 60 seconds of uninterrupted video, prior to the start of the actual program (pre-roll).
This video can be any combination of color bars (30 seconds), countdown (10 seconds), or black (10 seconds).
iMovie 6.03 has this feature available in the file menu/Export/Videocamera/Share.
It even offers you a field to place from 0-60 seconds of black before and after the exported video so it MUST be designed to fulfil the exact need that I have.
The problem is that the function simply does not work for me! And from what I have read, Apple has had so much trouble with this that they got rid of the feature completely.
