The idea behind Give 1 Get 1 is to get the laptop's to the children who need them, by enticing people to get one for themselves. From a philantropic standpoint, it is a good idea, and maybe in a few years when your child can understand this, they will appreciate the action even more.
The search for people who can answer your question continues for as long as needed - until you find the answer you were looking for.
