Connect a PS3 to a PC WirelesslyThe Sony PlayStation 3 can play many standard video and music files that you already have on your PC. Transferring them to the PS3 can be a chore if you use portable media devices. There is a new freeware application, however, that lets you simply connect your PS3 to your PC through a wireless network, allowing you to drag and drop files from your PC to your PS3's hard drive.
1
Download the Red Kawa File Server (see link in Resources). The downloader will automatically install the application to your computer. Start your PS3. Be sure its wireless connection is active. If you usually have your PSP plugged straight into the Ethernet connection, you will need to connect the Ethernet cord into your wireless router instead. (Most wireless routers include at least 1 spot for a wired connection as well as a wireless one.)

  • Step 2
Check your PC's Network Settings to be sure your PC has recognized a connection to the PS3. If you do not see the PS3, check your wireless router and any wired connections.

  • Step 3
Open the Red Kawa File Server application. When you first start the program, you must go to Settings and select the folders you want your PS3 to be able to access. The default is set for the "Documents and Settings" folder which contains My Documents, My Videos, etc. However, if you want to specify other folders, you must do so here.

  • Step 4
Go to your PS3's web browser. You should now see an option to open "Documents and Settings." Select any files you want to download, and store them where you want on your PS3. Close the PS3's web browser before closing the Red Kawa File Server on your PC.

  • Tips & Warnings

    • If you have any specific problems with the software, check the Red Kawa forums for help. The developers and other users actively assist with problems.
