cpu/dram speed keeps changing. computer has a 2.4G processor, but when it boots it says its a 1.80G, and I have to go into the bios and change the cpu/dram speed, or it won't boot up. sometimes it changes after booting and will freeze. lately it has gotten worse and takes 2-4 times of changing the bios before it will boot. it seems to revert back to 100/100 and I change it to 133/166 and it works. what can I do to make the change final.

Buy a new CPU and Motherboard? Go to a computer repairman and have him check it out? There's obviously a problem that you can't solve, so take it to a professional.  BTW - Motherboards and CPUs are getting very inexpensive these days, and it may be cheaper for you to "Go for the new!" Go to NewEgg.com (and/or) TigerDirect.com and check out the deals. {There's also the option of buying a "Barebones" kit and using the hardware (CD/DVD Player/Burner, Video Card, etc.)} from your present computer. Barebones kits can be real lifesavers!

As da_Les_Man suggested, you should go to a repair shop. You might actually have a 1.8Ghz CPU that was overclocked. If that is the case, if you don't have sufficent cooling the CPU can get heated up and that may cause the freezing.

yes, they both are right, you have to consult with some hardware service centre.
