Well, with those stats it seems like you have a pretty old computer. These days a new computer will usually have at least 2ghz (2000 mhz) and 2gb of ram (roughly 2000mb ram). Upgrading your processor (that's the one with the mhz) will most likely require a new motherboard. You may be able to find some ram that you can use with your machine if you look thoguh some online shops.

However, I do have to say that you'll be better off looking for a deal on a new computer. Even a low end current machine will be a great deal faster than what you describe. Hope that helps.

I agree with "hebsgaard" that you quite obviously have a OLD computer.

You definitely need to buy a new computer. (It's highly improbable that you could find the CPU and RAM to upgrade  your old MotherBoard. It's quite possible that your old Power Supply wouldn't work with newer Hardware, either.)

Check-out TigerDirect.com, and NewEgg.com. They both have really excellent specials on new computers, and since it's obvious that you're not a gamer, the "lower-end" hardware in these "Cheaper" computers should suit you just fine. (You'll be shocked at the speed of a NEW computer.)
