You'll to format your computer in order to install windows XP so you will lose all data on the disk.
if you downgrade your operating system do not reformat your disk drives, all you have to do is to overwrite your existing operating system with the new one. If you wish to reformat your hard drives, be sure that you should back-up all your data before installing your new operating system.
