Depending on what State the bypass, of weigh station occurs, if you are caught, or not. A bypass of a State Weigh Station, is a violation in all States, and is a violation of State law, as well as Federal law. The simple answer, is if caught, a substantal monetary fine is leived against the commercial truck driver. If caught on a side road, and a DOT or other law enforcement officer, decides to stop, detain for logbook inspection, vehicle inspection, inspection of DOT certification, truck/trailer registration, insurance papers, Bill of Lading papers, cargo inspection, Permit book, or decides to "escort" driver and truck, to the bypassed Weigh Station for weighing. Driving a semi-truck today, is not worth the hassle going thru, believe me. Been there, done that!!
