What Japanese comics are popular in foreign countries? I've heard that in Thailand there was a Manga club in school. Is there any school that has a manga club?Tell me about that.

I think that manga is popular in foreign countries because the human drawings are perfect with a unique style, it means that shows some western and asian characteristics which make attract a lot of people.

In Israel there is no real adult Manga scene (There is only one store I know of that imports a few titles, and yes you will find a few Manga junkies).

There are no translations to Hebrew though I think there would be a market for those. 

What we do have is quite a lot of Anime. The market is mostly driven by the children's channels and we do have one Anime dedicated channel.

The most popular Animes in the last few years where:

  • Inuyasha
  • Dragonball
  • Digimon
  • Beyblade
  • Naruto
  • Pokemon
  • Yugioh
We have a holiday here called Purim (it's kind of a Jewish  Halloween). Where children dress up as different characters. I don't have formal stat, But I can tell you that around 30% of the boys are dressed as Manga characters. The leading characters would change according to the current most popular show. Last year it was Inuyasha.

World-wide wise, the 10 most popular manga series so far have been (listed from most popular to least): Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Vampire Knight, Air Gear, Eyeshield 21, D.Gray Man, Claymore, and Fairy Tail. I hope that answers the first part of your question. If you seem interested in starting any new series, feel free to tell me about your interests and I can find some manga/anime series that would be good for you.
