Is anyone out there as afraid of having a colonoscopy as I am. I should have had one 8 months ago, but I was too afraid. If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it.

A penny saved  is a penny earned

I have had 3 of them.   Along with endocopy at the same time.Surprised.  They put you to sleep and the next thing you know your awake.  I was a little sore because they had to cut out polluts to make sure they were not cancerous.  You will be a little sore for a day but not as bad as having work done on your teethUndecided  I have to have this done 2 times a year.  The only thing bad is the nite before you go in you have to clean out.

Didn't hurt,  just bothersome going to the bathroom so much.

Good luch and keep in touch sammie

God bless

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

I had one done and the worst thing was the preparation the day before. One word of advice: I strongly advice against the virtual colonoscopy because if they do find a problem, you are going to have to do the whole thing again.

Open the pod bay doors HAL

Ditto to Nan's comments but I'll add a couple of things; the night before you have the test, you must drink a gallon of some very unpleasant solution to empty your intestines, and that stuff isn't real good tasting. Here's a suggestion; starting 3 days before the test, change your eating to soups and salads to minimize the effects of drinking this stuff.

I had to drink the whole gallon before my first but the second time I had the test I only had to drink a quart before it was running straight thru. Hey that may sound like TMI but I wish someone had told me before my first because drinking a gallon of anything in an hour or two isn't easy and that stuff is dreadful.

The other thing is the wonderful feeling you will have when he tells you your colon is free and clear of any growth. They could do one of those "priceless" mastercard commercials using successful results as the punchline. My advice, it's perfectly painless so don't put it off.

Best of luck to you.

I like stock car racing, modifieds, and supermodifieds. I also like to have e-mail friends. And i like monitoring police, and fire depts.

I personally do not know. But i herd it was not that bad because they put you to sleep.

True true gary999.  That was worse , the nite before.........   Than the operation.

"  DONT DRINK  OR EAT ANYTHING RED, "  CHERRY JELLO OR POPCYCLES OR  "  ORANGE. "  OR " GRAPE "   THE DAY BEFORE CAUSE THEY WILL HAVE YOU ON A LIQUID DIET.       Dont know why, did'nt ask. Just did it.

All above answers were very good,   gave you a thumbs up      dontch just love those thumbs.  Its like a star on your paper in school..........Lol    but the most important thing is that you have put it off for 7 months so "  dont waste another day.." ......If there a little something , they can remove it.Wink

God bless

I read something a while back that reported that they have come up a pill or something that does away with having to drink so much fluid. Sorry I can't be more specific. Ask your doctor about it and follow his/her instructions.

In any case; pill, shot or fluids, GET IT DONE. It isn't painful or embarrassing because you will be in La La land. You will be glad you did it, and will wonder why you wasted your time worrying.

Keep us informed.

God bless.
