Check with the hostess. Is it an informal affair, out doors/indoors. Is it in a rented location, a church, restaraunt, a family home or community center. Certainly two people are in celebration of 50 years of marriage, are going to be honored with respect and class. I recommend ladies and gentlemen, no Jeans unless it is hosted casual blue jean event. Ladies a skirt and blouse with jacket, seasonal colors low slung pump and matching handbag, minimal jewelry. Men, at a minimum slacks dark gray or navy, button down shirt, bolo tie acceptable with a sport jacket no athletic shoes. shave, tuck it in, wear a belt and matching shoes, dont smoke or swear, and both of you show your admiration. Its their day.
