Why is it illegal to buy Cuban Cigars in the US ?

The U.S. Trade Embargo against Cuba prohibits Americans from buying Cuban made products. Therefore, it is a violation of the "Trading with the Enemy" Act for American's to buy or sell Cuban made products. The federal ban on Cuban imports has existed since 1963.

After the US under President Kennedy forced the Sovits to remove their misiles from Cuba and after an invasion by anti-Castro forces in the Bay of Pigs that failed, the U.S. placed a total embargo on Cuba that included anything from the U.S. and all imports from Cuba to the U.S. including the famous Cuban cigars.
