I see no reason that you shouldn't try a few therapists and then choose the one that seems right for you. Wouldn't you do that with any doctor? The personal interaction with a psychologist is important, more than with most other doctors 

If you can, try to get some recommendations from people that you can trust.  If you can't (or you feel shy to ask people) look in your local yellow pages, and choose a few names. Phone them up, speak to them on the phone. Don't be shy to ask about different approaches, or about their  qualifications. Don't just choose one therapist , try a few. Have a few sessions with each and then decide which one is best for you.
