Avoid fried greasy foods and fatty meat. Hamburger has more fat calories than a slice of well trimmed ham. Use skim or 2% milk. Margarine instead of butter. Egg whites only. Avoid foods made with egg whenever possible. Eat lots of fresh veggies and fruit. But, no avocadoes. Basic diet for diabetic is good to follow as it is low in high fat/cholesterol.
