I agree with most here, that there are definitely kind and honorable people out there. I also truely feel that, at this time, we are all being called to question ourselves and our motives for behaving the way we do. I believe that we all have the opportunity to recommit to the virtues of loving, compassionate kindness for all beings and in all circumstances . This kind of commitment takes change on all of our parts. We still have remnants of old belief systems... ones that say, well yes, we will be kind to this person because they are like us, or are the same sex as us, or are in a certain group with us, but, anyone out of that group or sex, anyone not like us , is the other, and falls into another classification as far as behavior.
Life is very difficult now in a different way than in past times... the stress level on a daily basis and the disconnect from human and earthy things (and by this I mean the good connection that humans need with each other and nature) is reeking havoc with all of our minds and bodies. PBob is so right about television (and, I would add, the media in general) that it hands us beliefs that take us further and further away from our humanity and from the voice of God within us. We are all sold a bill of goods that has nothing to do with being the GENUINE and UNIQUE beings that we are... All of us must fit into some model that the media dreamed up that is unrealistic and bears no resemblance to what REAL PEOPLE are like.
Sooooooo, what can we do?? Look for what is real, limit your exposure to the plastic world, embrace wisdom in any way that feels right for you, be truthful and honest with yourself about your own inner workings, and, as Ghandi so very beautifully put it, Be the Change that you want to see in the world.
