A baby is God's opinion that life should go on

Sandburg, Carl

When your child is born, who're you going to call?

When your child is born, who's the one you call first with the good news? (for example your mother, her mother, other relatives, friends, etc.)

What's the accepted etiquette?

Fertility Stories - infertility experiences of people like you.

I don't know if there's any accepted etiquette but it seems like you'd first call parents (either set) then siblings and then other relatives and friends. If you have kids who are waiting at home, I'd call them first (especially if they know you've gone to the hospital).

If you call one set of parents first this time, call the other set next time. Or, tell first the parents to whom you announced the pregnancy last... Or take 2 cell phones and call simultaneously :-)

As long as mom & baby are healthy, I don't think it makes too much of a difference :-)

Good luck!

You call your parents and then the parents of your spouse. Then your immediate siblings and then those of your spouse. After that your closest friends. No one could ever fault you for following this order.

Emotions tend to run a little high in m y family... Especially with connection to the in laws :-)

I hope their joy at the new grandson will allay other feelings.

Thanks! This has been thankful
