Hi,


Several possible reasons: Food that the cat ate (simply colours the urine), blood (that in turn can be of several reasons: inner injury, stones in the kidney, etc.....). 
Best thing to do: Change the food.  Give the cat healthy good cat's food.  If the colour comes back to normal it's OK.  If it remains red, hurry to the vet !.

It doesn't sound right or healthy, and I would take the cat to the vet ASAP. If you want and can you might want to take a sample of the urine.

Don't wait too long.

red pee is always a dangerous sign - urine will never turn red because of something a cat ate.  If a cat has red urine you MUST rush them to the animal hospital right away!!  So sorry to hear that your cat passed.
