This is NO commandment in ANY bible, Catholic or otherwise,  regarding NOT eating meat on Friday.      Your opinion is just that; an oPINION.  You must learn the facts; not just give an answer based on what the priests or nuns told you.

Making the sacrifice of not eating meat on ANY given day is a personal choice;  Christ was crucified on FRIDAY and for all intents and purposes, one should FAST for those 3 hours he suffered on the cross as an UNBLEMISHED lamb, taking on all the sins of the world.  We should fast as a respect and reflection of His great sacrifice.

Therefore, there is no RULE!  The Catholic have made up RULES and REGULATIONS for centuries just so they can control the people with GUILT, not facts, not theology, not even Christ given.

So many Catholics are like mindless SHEEP and just go along thinking that the priests have some HOLY connection to God that the rest of us don't.   One would think  in this 21st century and with  ALL the information that's out there, one would want to  know the TRUTH,  or at least SEARCH for it.

The Catholic church is full of hypocrisies and  if you DONATE enough money, you can "dance" around their RULES, i.e, Ted Kennedy's 25 year marriage annulment so he can re-marry another divorced person.  His  huge "donation" allowed him to divorce and re-marry before a priest without losing his Catholic membership and sacraments.  The rest of us divorcees are excommunicated.

I have 3 words for all those Catholics that are still being led around with their eyes and ears closed....READ THE BIBLE!

Are you still an Athiest?  What facts have you learned that there is no God?  Or are you just MAD at the Catholic church?  Ths world did not happen by accident; it took a designer...Almighty God!

Ever walk on the beach and see writings in the sand?  Well, saying there's no GOD is just like saying that the grains of sand and water formulated those writings in the sand.   It took someone's hand to design those words...just like it took a designer to fashion this earth and everything that's on it, and in it, including mankind.

Read and learn and study the facts.  Your belief that there is no God will result in everlasting death.  It's because of man's free will and his constant disobedience to God that this world is in the shape it is in; and not because there is no God.

Ask yourself, "Would I want someone to control my every thought, word and deed and make sure that I did everything RIGHT?"  Or..."Do I want to make my own choices and decide for myself, regardless of the consequences?"

Answer that and you will know WHY the world is in the state it is in.

God Bless you!

Fortunately, the Council changed the emphasis of Catholic teachings from negative to positive in many ways.

In regards to your statement  Catholics are obliged to abstain from meat on Fridays only during Lent.

This is what the Church actually teaches from  Canon 1251
Abstinence from meat, or from some other food as determined by the Episcopal Conference, is to be observed on all Fridays, unless a solemnity should fall on a Friday. Abstinence and fasting are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Canon Law still requires that Catholics not eat meat on all Fridays!

Of course, most Episcopal Conferences have determined that, during the year.... instead of abstaining from meat, Catholics may perform an act of penance of their choosing. But, do you ever remember to abstain from a particular food or do some other penance on Fridays? And, at any rate, the main rule is still to abstain from meat on Fridays, the performance of another penance instead is an optional alternative.

I gave you the "facts" from Canon Law...You are the one with the "opinion".....Either we are obedeint to Mother Church in all she teaches or we pick and choose what we want to do...In that case we are luke warm at best and not in full accordance with the Church...

Im not hear to debate..The Canon speaks for itself....
