Modular carpet tile are really good if it wear you pull up a few small pieces and stick down new ones. or natural fiber carpets, also you can go with a carpet with multi colors to help hide wear and pet staining. Great tip when installing the carpet put a layer of plastic between the pad and carpet so urine and liquids dont soak and stain all the way to the floor where they are almost impossible to get up. There is always indoor\outdoor carpets.

Be happy.

I think the best carpet for high traffic areas is any throw carpet that can be thrown into a washing machine and can be washed at least once a month. =)
