Depending on the local conditions and I write this really only for Arid Temperate areas, ferns need protection from hot or cold conditions, dry winds, severe sunlight and sometimes even rain. Your area may need changing slightly.
Fern requirements differ within the species. In the real hot weather, ferns require constant moisture and humidity, so watering perhaps up to four times a day may be necessary. Some require high root as well as high atmospheric moisture all the time. Others just slight humidity and low moisture is sufficient. There are some ferns, which live in arid conditions, which require very little moisture at all to survive, they resurrect themselves following the odd rainfall they receive.
