Janissa had some good advice for you; however, I would like to point out ANTIBIOTICS are not a common course of treatment for an infant under 9 months of age. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED (I am a Pediatric Nurse and was formerly at ARNOLD PALMER HOSPITAL, ORLANDO FL. Second, IMMEDIATELY contact your Pedicatrician...next insist on seeing a Pediatric Cardiologist. It could be so many things. A simple cough is a VIRUS, and antibiotics treat BACTERIA. Not to frighten you, however if the child stops breathing, there is a condition called SID (sudden infant death syndrome). It can happen in their sleep. Also, even if no symptoms were present at birth and this short period afterward, there is a mirade of conditions that present themselves in the growth cycle of an infant this young. If this infant turns blue, he is not getting sufficient oxygen.
If you are unable to communicate with your Pediatrician, because of a language barrior, please DEMAND AN INTERPRETOR.
I do not want to frighten you ~~ but it is IMPERATIVE you contact the physician WITHOUT DELAY.
Best of good news and strong health for you all as you go through this difficult time.
May God bless you.
