I have a green card and married to a Canadian ...

I have a green card and married to a Canadian citizen. I have been granted a visa for entry into Canada as a landed immigrant. However it is my intention to return to the United States as that is where my employment currently is. Can I retain my green card and return to the United States/ The Canadian authorities hae no problem with this.
