I had a new laminated safety glass windshield ...

I had a new laminated safety glass windshield installed on my 2007 Chevrolet Impala today (10-15-2009). The manufacturer stamped on the glass is XYG, is this Chinese produced glass?(I hope NOT!!)  The ratings on the glass is CCC,   DOT-568AS-1M-852,  and also DW 01640 Solar.  Is this windshield OEM rated as the installer states???                     Thank You

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

XYG is, indeed, manufactured by a Chinese company.  It's an OEE (Original Equipment Equivilent) that is used by Safelite & other installers, because it's cheaper.  Many people are dissatified with it and it could affect trade-in value, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't meet DOT standards.

I'm fairly certain that GM gets most of their OEM glass from PPG, VIVEX and AP TECHNOGLASS.

Yes, it is made in China. The quality of the glass and its manufactruring process is in question by many automotive experts. I wouldn't use it if I had a choice.
