Don't ignore it. If the red light is on, it means low oil pressure. They don't call it an idiot light for nothing. Take the truck to a shop and have an oil pressure test done. It is quick, cheap, and at ANY price, it is cheaper than a new engine! They can also check to see if your oil pressure sender to the gauge is dead, the wire has fallen off, or the gauge itself is bad. But with the gauge at zero AND the light on, my money is on low oil pressure, and possibly ruining your motor.
