Need help figuring out what is wrong with my 92 ...

Need help figuring out what is wrong with my 92 gmc rally 1500 van . It started right up as usual then died and will not restart . I have power and it acts like it wants to start but will not. I had just put gas in it a couple hours before and went to a couple of places and it had been running fine . I did however smell gas after this happened

there are so many things that would cause you situation. Since you had just recently added gasoline, my first thought is that the fuel you bought is the cause. It could have water in it and when you stopped, the water settled to the bottom. when you started again the water was drawn into the injectors. The fuel may have had some debris which settled and clogged the pump input strainer. The fuel pump could have failed. One of several sensors could have failed which would cause the engine to not run. I would pull the trouble codes to determine where to start.
