Are you not living in the USA now?
Are you looking to move to the US or are you already here. First I would find the area that you are moving to. The way things are in the US right now it's generally a buyers market. Most banks used to want a 20% downpayment to get a mortgage. Find a local realtor in the area you want to move and have them assist you in your search.

Non-nationals are allow to own property in the usa. If you are here legally you can even qualify for a mortgage. Just check around for a real estate agency that specialized in helping people from outside the country.
