Lactation usually begins a week +/- before labor and birth. In terms of weeks the average is 34. Hormonal changes begin at 6 to 8 weeks with an increase in progesterone levels and may cause a noticible tenderness. If you were pregnant when this question was asked, you will already know the answer ~
