What is the breast cancer society in Mesa

Can you tell me anything about a business called The Breast Cancer Society? The address  listed is 10506 E Obispo Ave, Mesa, Arizona. I pledged money to them over the phone but can't find any information on them. Thank you for anything you can tell me.              Karen Kingsley

I think The Breast Cancer Society and The Cancer Fund of America (also Reynolds), and whatever other names they go by, have people that monitor (by googling their names) blogs and bulletin boards and post comments to try and counter anything that would call into question their legitimacy. I got two calls from the Cancer Fund of America and then one from The Breast Cancer Society within an hour of each other.

P.P.S.: From a comment in the Charity Navigator link just noted above: "Send your money to a Hospice organization near you if you want to help needy cancer patients."

DG... We can appreciate your trepidation.  However, we would like to point out that a "scam" would seek to hide information - which we do not.  Ask away and we would be gald to answer any concerns.  You (or anyone) may even come personally to our office at any time (during regular business hours, of course) to set down and go over our operations with us.  As a publicly supported charity, we are completely open to public review and even welcome it.  What we do ask is that individuals try to get a full and balanced picture of the organization and all that it does before passing judgement.  Also, our new office location will be open in six weeks (end of March 2009).  The new address is: 6859 E. Rembrandt Ave., Ste. 128, Mesa, AZ  85212.  Please feel free to visit us any time you may happen to be in the area for a cordial tour of our facilities and an open-book review of our programs; and as always you may contact us directly at anytime for further information or to refer a family or friend currently battling breast cancer.

Celad, et al:

Actually, I (James Reynolds) am one of the directors of The Breast Cancer Society.  I personally have been the one to answer most questions posted on this site (as far as I am aware) in an effort to provide individuals with the most accurate, first-hand information possible.  I would extend the same invetation to yourself as to anyone reading this - if you have any concerns or questions about the organization, you are more than welcome to contact us directly or even come by to visit our offices in person (if convenient) for a full tour and a set-down review of our operations.  We (I personally) would be more than happy to set your mind at ease about our operation's value to society in regard to the breast cancer patients we serve.  As always, if you have a friend or loved one currently battling breast cancer, please do not hesitate to refer them to us.  We will be glad to assist them directly. (it's what we do)

Our address and contact information is:

6859 E. Rembrandt Ave., Ste 128

Mesa, AZ 85212
