How to break up with someone you love for a career ...

     I don't understand why you have to break-up with your girlfriend because of a career.  Are you assigned far from where your girlfriend lives?  Why do you have to break-up?  Can she not move and follow you where you are going to work?

   Breaking up with her means that your career is more important than her.  Or perhaps you don't really love her.

     If you love her very much, maybe you need to reconsider.  If you are compatible, get along so well and have been together for a long while, perhaps you can both talk this over and agree to relocate together.  Jobs are easy to find, but a good woman you are compatible with is not easy to find.

     Take care and please be open with her, perhaps she can make some suggestions which both of you can agree upon.  Overall, people are more important than jobs.

My friend Dogbreeder gave you, as she always does, an excellent answer (gave her 2 thumbs up).  The additional information you provided changes a bit the picture.  Let me put it an simple words: You are in relatively new relations, you fell in love, but B4 you met her you applied for a job and now, as you were accepted, you are in a problem....  The best you can (and should) do is discuss it with her (open and true).  Tell her exactly what is your dilema, how it all occoured, don't forget to tell her how you feel towards her, and tell her you want that you'll work out, together !, a solution that will suit the two of you.  If she feels the same towards you. I believe that you (both) will work out a suitable solution.  True love is not easy to find, don't give it up too easily.....

You don't!

If you truly love someone you won't break up for a career move or to move to another state etc. Love is the most important thing in our lives. I would not throw that away for anything.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

well to be honest If you two really love each other you should'nt have to break up over your career. You should support your other half  and never ask them to give up something that could be very good for the both of you. But if you are so willing to break up with her for your career ....maybe you dont really love her
