Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

I don't care for vampire stories, but Charlaine Harris writes a vampire story line of books that you can find in the mystery section. You might want to take a peek.

(I have liked her other books - she's a good writer - so you might enjoy her new vampire series.)

There are 10 kinds of people: those who know binary and those who don't.

I just read Tom Clancy's "The Bear and the Dragon" for the 5th time, I love it.

I reccomend Baldacci and Patterson mysteries.

James Burke "Connections" etc.in Science / History  Also "Freakonomics", "Physics for Poets", and "Out of Control"

And lastly "An Incomplete Education" and "How to read literature like a professor"

Many of these books cover history and science and how people interact with the topics. But you must read the great novels to learn how people interact with people.

Regards and good luck

Your profile is open, so I was not aware that you are still a minor child.

In that case, there are many classics you might like.

Try 'Great Expectations' or 'Oliver Twist' by Charles Dickens; 'The Red Pony' by John Steinbeck; 'Sort of a Saga' by Bill Mauldin; 'The Catcher in The Rye' by J.D. Salinger; 'Life Among the Savages' by Shirley Jackson; 'The Once and Future King' by T.H. White and of course, 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' by J.R.R. Tolkein.

You should also ask your local librarian for suggestions; s/he is very familiar with books and can give you suggestions based on what you have previously read and enjoyed.

Additionally, if you have not read classic stories for children and young adults, then you might read those as well.

Try Little Women (and others) by Louisa May Alcott; A Wrinkle in Time (and others) by Madeleine L'Engle; The Rescuers (and others) by Margery Sharp (NOT the Disney versions!); The Chronicles of Narnia (NOT the movie versions) by C.S. Lewis; Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll; Anne of Green Gables (and others) by L. M. Montgomery; The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame; The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley; The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett; The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster; The World of Pooh by A.A. Milne and The White Mountain Chronicles by John Christopher - just to name a few of my favorites!
