I don't think a book winning an award makes me want to buy it or that I would not buy or read a book that has not won an award.

I do however think I am more likely to "notice" a book if it wins an award because of it's increased publicity.

Awards are are kinda like reviews and critic's opinions. They make make me take a look, but it won't influence a purchase.

yes because it tells me what books to stay away from ... in most cases .. as far as i have seen if a book has gotten an award its one of the sentametal books that your supost to learn so valuably life lesson from and most kids just read for fun and don't want to read a sentamental book .. they want to read to get away and have fun so in my experiance if a kid has read a book like that it's because it was a gift and they really wouldn't have read it in anyother case ... they will read books people there age say are good not adult who in most cases have a very different idea of a good book and the kind of book they might like ... kids like action and sometimes love and death and stuff like that ... adult like mystery ... which isn't bad but they also like the sentamental and the mushy and heavy romance books.. and kids .. most of the time don't care about that stuff yet or they thinks dumb and haven't learned that stuff in life yet so they won't understand it very well ... so yes it matters to me in the way of making sure i stay away from those book ... i like books that catch my interest and other people say are good but i won't wait to here that before i buy a book.

Yes, it's quite an honor.  However there are books that were nominated to win and didn't.  They may be just as good.  Yet, some of the best books don't win any award.  I believe there's an online source that tells you the winners each year of various books, like the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, etc.  Type these into your search engine.

As they say, if not anything else at least the book would have an award Cool

For me, the award would make me aware of the book and it might make me interested in it. But it does not guarantee that I would be buying the said book unless I have read a few pages/summary of it.
