I have lived in the same house for 28 years in the country near Smithfield. In all those years my backyard, which is bordered on three sides by woods, has teemed with birds. I have documented over 65 varieties. Then, since about 2 months ago, there are NO BIRDS!! I keep the feeders clean, feed suet cakes and use baffles against squirrels. There have been no changes...no dogs, no hunting, no new construction, etc. I'm at a loss....can anyone help?
To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.
Some of the best people to talk to are members of a local bird watching club. They probably keep records on migratory patterns and other information that has to do with the bird population. I see by your e mail address that you have something to do with Duke. I am sure there are many people there you can contact that can help answer your question. I would be interested in hearing what you find out.
