I too (male) have a bag of "toys" and romantic stuff (ncluding scents, cnadles, massage oils, tasty massage oils, handcuffs, blind fold, etc ect).  Many ladies have reminded me when going on a date to "Oh, be sure to bring your red bag".  :)

I never had an ego issue or competition or rejection ideation when a lady likes me to use toys on her.  Hell, if I felt that way, I might need to be jealous of her hand and masturbation too; right?   Silly.

Embarrasement?   Shucks boys and girls ... the people who work there (in toy stores)  have only seen thousands of other customers come in ... they are not "virgins" on toys.  And the other customers ... most are REPEAT CUSTOMERS ... you are the only virgin in the store probably, first time you go.  THEY ARE NOT FOCUSED on or JUDGING YOU.  I pick up a toy, walk up to the lady at the counter like it was a camera or cd player and say something like:   "Do you know, is this a good one?"  Then we dicuss it like it was a camera ... features, good points, weak points how to  use it, what it does best etc etc.   Often matter of fact like.  Sometimes they will say "Oh yea, i have that one and its one of my favorites" and we smile but not like high school kids that don't know what sex is or have never seen a "toy" before.  NOT A BIG DEAL (no pun intended) ...its just business for them.  Go shopping and relax.

As one said above, for starters a vibrating, simple bullet shaped dildo is great.  The "Pocket Rocket" (small enough to carry in purse or guys pocket easily) is nice and very effective for clitoral stimulation (which is were most of the action begins and often where it ends too, when done well boys)  :)  But you want deep vaginal penetration toys, they are available in ALL sizes.  8" is the most that most ladies really like (from my experience).  But you might want to tell them its 10" (as so much of sexual arousal and pleasure is ALL IN THE MIND!).  :)
