Wow.  I don't have a hard time motivating myself to go to bed at night.  Is your bed comfortable and your bedroom a place you want to go?

First, stop fighting the habit of not going to bed on time...

After that - set a goal to your self : at the wanted hour, put an alarm that will remind you to shut all the screens off, and just go to bed :-) it is easier then you think, you just didn't try it.

will power is just a decision! yours only...

the same way you decide to sit in-front of the TV you can decide to turn it off, and if you think of any excuse for not - then think why that is... is it because someone told you something about it once?

I fight with the same problem almost daily. The trick is to realize that your internal clock tells you when it is time for bed and not really when you decide to go to bed.

The first question I have for you is when you are playing games or watching TV,  do you trouble staying awake? Do you feel tired and sleepy and need tooth pics to keep your eyes open to watch to the end of that movie? If the answer is yes than most likely your internal clock is OK and is doing it's job of shutting your body down and going to sleep. Stop fighting it!

If the answer is no then  your internal clock is off like mine is. If you don't feel sleepy around 10 but finally get the urge to go to bed around 11 to 1 am but you need to get up at 6 or 7am.  Another way to know if your internal clock is off is to take notice of how you feel in the mornings. Do you require an alarm clock to wake up? When you do wake up do you feel awake, refreshed and energetic? Or do you feel like you just got hit by a truck?

So what are we suffering from?

It's called

 Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder (DSP)

Free Knowledge.

Work out during the day. It doesn't have to be much, but some exercise goes a long way toward giving you energy during the day, putting you in a better mood, and helping you to sleep at night.

Also, do what I like to do, synch your ipod with your favorite podcasts and listen to podcasts for the last hour before you go to sleep. Don't have an ipod? Just play Itunes in bed.
