What are the best bets for lomography?

I'd like to go retro with some lomo photography. What are some of the more worthwhile cameras? Any particular film that works best with them? Any tips?

Hi,

While I'm not a lomo-photographer, I've been following lomo for a while. The original, and still most respected lomo camera is the LC-A lomo camera (Lomo Kompakt Automat, built by Lomo PLC of Russia, and available through Lomographic Society International).

Note the term lomo, or lomographic is nowadays used to describe any camera that has the visual effects of a Lomo LC-A. This included camera's like the Holga or Olympus xa family.

As for film, the LC-A takes any 35mm film. Lomo photographers often prefer ISO 100 films, as they produce more vivid colors. Also, you might get even more vivid and surreal results by using expired films or crossprocessing.

The original lomo camera is the LC-A, I find it the best, it's small, compact (fits in the pocket), but can take sharp & beautiful images. One of the best effects I can get with my LCA is the vignetting, a dark ring around your image, I'm not sure how it happens & when will I get it, but thats part of the excitment of lomography. if you can't get the LCA the fisheye camera is cheaper and fun too. About film, well it become. more about what you can get. Slide film (which is what you need for cross processing) is fast disappearing. If I can get it, I use kodak exracolour, or fuji provia 100asa. I use my LC-A almost exclusively to make photographic images (or lomographs in lomo speak:) ). The fisheye is probably the only other camera I use these days. If you want to see some of my lomo images check out my
