Do you believe in the death penalty? If so, in what types of situations?
I am absolutely against the death penalty, for a number of reasons. One thing is that you can never be sure without a doubt as to the guilt of someone, it is just too risky to punish this way. Another thing is that no one has the right to deprive someone of their lives no matter in what situation. Thirdly, punishing someone by death is only giving in to the most vulgar need for revenge, punish a killer with death and you would be no better than that killer.
I am for the death penalty but only if it is shown in the most absolute terms that the criminal is guilty. Although the victim can never be brought back to his family they will have the solace that the murderer got justice. In addition, the guilty criminal is absolutely removed from society so there is no chance whatsoever that he can murder again. It has been shown that smart lawyers were able to get their clients released even from life imprisonment. With the death sentence society has one less criminal to worry about.
In my opinion the experience people over go in prison is a very harsh punishment rather then killing them . Taking someones life can sometimes be a way of setting someone free rather then have him serve.
Yes, eye for an eye. But only when your CERTAIN they are guilty.
I think every convicted murderer, child molester, and rapist should be immediatley put to death immediatley, and it should be the only punishment. The death penalty should also be considered for other crimes on a case to case basis. Repeate offenders, gansters, and neo nazis would be good candidates to eventually receive justice. Harryvan said it right but forgot to mention it would be nice not have to pay for the houseing, feeding, bathing, and living needs of the people who are trying to destroy our society. We may fix this budget yet.
I would be interested to know if daves or anyone here who agrees with him is also pro choice. I love the hypcritical creed of the democrate "kill fetuses not criminals" it makes me laugh at how confussed they all are.

I absolutely do not believe in the death penalty. If is not our decision to make. It is God's. Put them in jail until they die and be done with it.
THOU SHALL NOT KILL is plain enough for me.......
