quack, your balcony is not that small.
I think balcony is an important part of the apartment, it let's you be outside while "in" your apartment, enjoy fresh air, a view or sun light (if any of these available)
You had better throw your junk away (or hide it some where in your apartment), put some flowerpots, small table with chairs and you have a great place for relaxing after a hard day, reading a book or enjoy your coffee.
(I hope your balcony is not above any high way)
