What is the best way to backup laptop content (all data from C drive or D drive) over a company intranet? Is there any software out there that can do this without completely consuming the laptop resources?

If your company will invest in it Novastor's NovaNet-Web is a pretty good product. I use it to backup my laptop users.
I would recommend mozy, so far so good for me!
