I have two cherry tomatoe plants growing in the topsy turvey planters. I have large yellow bumps up and down the stems, is this a problem?

Bumpy stems. You may see lots of little raised bumps on the main stems that trigger your alarm bell. This is usually nothing bad. It’s just the “root primordia,” or earliest stage of a root that would develop if the stem were underground. They are most common in wet weather. Occasionally the bumps signal underground root damage, so watch the overall health of the plants.

the yellow bumps will not affect the productivity of plants. you might could add a little lime dissolved in water and apply to soil. this should help

Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination

I'm like wayne, you always need to add lime to the soil where you are planting Tomatoes. I put in on my whole garden when it's tilled to insure all the plants get the chance to grow big and strong. Try it next year and you will be able to tell the difference. The bumps you have now want hurt the production, but you can add a couple of Tablespoons of lime to water and add add that to your plants the next time you water them. Hope this helps.

no worries, Its not like the other plants like grass that steals some of the nutrients of the plants.

Add a little lime dissolved in water may be better, and be careful not watering
