My 9 month old bottle fed baby will not take her bottle.  I've been to the doctors 4 times in a row and they say that she doesn't show any signs of having an infection or virus.  I've also tried the sippy cup, but she doesn't understand how to drink out of it yet. She is hardly getting 3 ounces of liquids a day.  I'm starting to loose my mind with worry. Does anyone have any advice?

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Did they test her for strept throat? Is she allergic to the milk? Maybe you should take her to another physician. Is the physician she's seeing a pediatrician that specializes with children? I would demand that if they cannot find out the problem through normal testing to put her in the hospital for extensive testing. Evidently there is a problem and I would not stop until I get to the bottom of it.

Is she teething? Maybe the bottle irritates her gums.

Be Blessed and good luck

Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

Have you tried nursing her?

If you are concerned about her fluid intake and nothing else has worked, you can use an eyedropper. It will take a while, but it works (my daughter had to do that when dealing with breastfeeding and her son's nipple confusion).

There is also a site where you may find information on this; www.breastfeeding.com. It is by moms and for moms, and of course; they recommend breastfeeding - but you still may be able to find some answers there.

Also, have you changed formulas? Or is your water perhaps different? It is possible that she is able to discern a change in taste and that is what is making her refuse it.

If there is a will.. there is a way

I have a 1 yr old and what I can say is try the sippy cup.. they have a wide range of sippy cups to use .. if your child is taking in foods that are nutritious there is no need for concern.. as long as she is taking down 'some' fluid she will be fine.. try the sippy cup and let her have her way with it.. (with formula in it).. you can offer the bottle from time to time as well.. at that age they are distracted with other things around them since they are developing a sense of their surroundings... since your doc had a look at the baby and saw no means of concern .. maybe it is time to transition your baby to the sippy cup.. it would not hurt... also offer foods that are nutritious so your baby can get what she needs.. teething plays a role as well when a child has a disinterest in their bottles etc... because it is rubbing against their gums giving them an uncomfortable itchy sensation.. once it passes she will begin to drink her fluids with no problem.. as long as she is getting a bit in she is alright..

Have you tried using different bottle nipples?

My daughter did the exact same thing it means that they are done with the bottle and try to get the sippy cups with the rubber tops and they just have to bite down and the liquid will come out. Or get the sippy cup with rubber top and make small holes in it and that should work! Good Luck

Yesterday's gone and Today is going fast, Tomorrow is all we have, Until it to has passed

Both of my kids quit drinking from a bottle when they were 6 months old. They drank from a cup from then on with no problems. Try being patient and quit worrying. Some kids just don't want the bottle at an early age. Do the sippy cup, be patient and she'll get the hang of it. My kids grew up healthy, with strong bones and teeth, so quit worrying and let her learn to drink out of a cup. It could be your frustration she's picking up on, calm down, and I assure you everything will be fine.

First, to help with fluids, try popsicles or ice chips, especially if it is teeth it will help that as well.  Then don't focus on the milk in the bottle try gatorade or pedialyte, anything baby will take.  It is a great idea to ask the peditrition for a few formula samples(thay usually have a ton of free ones to give), try soy or something else for atleast a week per type in case your baby has developed an allergy.  My oldest had a problem transitioning to a sippy but I found some cups at walmart made by nubby that have a soft silicone top that feels more like a bottle, when she puts pressure down the liquid will come out.  I hope this helps.

ive got a nine month old girl too. And ive been thru this. The main thing is not to worry. If the doctor says theres no viral cause for it then shes just not wanting it. Your baby knows what she needs. She knows how many calories, how much water, how much sleep she needs. Sometimes babies "take a break" from eating and drinking. Just keep your cool. She'll come back to it.
