Run another anti-virus program that is comparatively reliable with AVG on your computer . I used to experience this kind of situation. I have learned that a virus is trying to block me from installing an anti-virus program. Also, try cleaning your registry.

Does your browser crash too when searching for "Free AVG"? If so, you may already have malwares in your computer. One way I think you can fix this is to use System Restore. If it works and your browser no longer crashes when searching for said keywords, then download it and scan the whole computer. If no viruses are found, use Avira.

If you unknowingly have another anti-virus installed - say for ex; from your service provider - AVG will not install without difficulties. If it does download and install you will begin experiencing other difficulties and need to do a restore points or even a complete recovery.
