Hi there!
I am an auto mechanic and shop owner, so ou can rest assured that what i tell you will make a simple task of this project.
First, locate the intake air boot that goes from the air filter to engine. remove it from the engine and air filter side, and set aside. (It may be necessary to remove some electrical connections, and other plumbing devices from the intake boot) and this is OK as long as you rember to put it all back as you found it when you are done.
With the engine not running, have your friend or wife, etc. hold the gas pedal to the floor. Spray down both sides of the round throttle plate inside of the intake and clean it with an old tooth brush, rinsing it with more carb cleaner util clean.
The throttle plate will be easily identified as the round flat plate that opens and closes as the gas pedal is held to the floor, and then released. Note: use as little carb spray as necessary to get it good and clean. once all is hooked back up as you found it, then there is a certain proceedure to starting your engine after this cleaning. You must hold the throotle to the floor once again, (as this is known as clear flood mode) it will not allow the engine to get very much fuel for starting. Crank it and as soon as the engine begins to run on it's own, then back off the throttle to an idle and let run for about 5 minutes if it is warm out, or drive it around the block if it is cold out.
It is best to do this when the engine is cold, because your engine needs extra fuel anyway when you start it up cold. (the carb cleaner acts as a fuel) You should do this every 30k miles. Good luck.
