i have a buick lucerne 2006 sometimes it makes sounds when you brake, after new brakes it still does it
New brakes will for a while. If continue I take back to whom put them on. ask them to check and when they pull of the tire (s) you want to see how the brakes are wearing. If deep groove in pads, something else is add to the problem. Garage's say your not allowed to go into that area. There are limits you can go and if the mechanic worth his salt/word he let you see his work. Garages yes they have Insurance codes but without customers they have no business to pay Ins. Co.!
if the sound is grinding or scraping and the pads are semi-metalic or metalic it may be normal. if the sound is pulsating (hammering) that is caused by the anti-lock system and is normal. a single clunk or bang could caused by rear brake shoes (if the car has drum brakes on the rear) that need to be adjusted. squeal is caused by brake dust causing the pads to vibrate. this can be corrected by coating the back of the pads with a non-squeal compound or shim.
