what is the benefit of a four barrel carburetor and aluminum intake manifold on a ford 302 motor? and what would be the expected torque/ horsepower gains?
Generaly speaking, the more air/fuel that flows through an engine the more power it makes. The larger runners in the intake will flow better as will the 4 barrels in the carb. In addition the 4 barrel only operates on 2 barrels (primarys) during part throttle operation. The other 2 barrels (secondarys) open under full throttle providing flow through all 4 barrels so it is possible to have more power under full throttle and as good as or better milage during normal driving. Too many variables to say exactly but my best guess with nothing else changed on the engine would be in the ball park of 20 horsepower.
