I have many medical problelms which have stripped me of who I am.I have endured them all.My problem is this.I had 28 oral surgeries.These seemed to be thought by my dentist to be contributed to dry mouth.And rx's seem to dry your mouth and eyes.Well my husband paid for each operation I had.It has come to quite a huge bill although he doesn't mind if it helps me.I had been told by the last oral surgeon I went to was to go ahead and remove the rest of the teeth that according to his xrays were becoming abcessed as well I was told that in a matter of about 6 weeks I could wear my teeth.The reason we did the implants is I could not wear an upper denture with the roof of the mouth part in there as I gagged when ever I tried putting it in.So when you have implants they can remove that part.I had the surgery Feb 14th. 2007.I have Fibro- and told the surgeon I am prone to infections.I have never had anything this painful.In fact I screamed for 3 days.After six weeks I was still having puss running into my mouth.I told him it felt the same as the other time I was admitted to the hospital for and nearly died.So I continued to ask him to do a culture.He continued to tell me there was not infection.Well right after a year I went to him saying I could not wear the teeth and I felt I had infection.He looked in my mouth and said I didn't.At this point I was so frustrated I grabbed a rubber glove,palpated the area and came out with puss on my finger and said what would you call this.He then said I needed to go to an ENT.The first one said I had osteomyelitis.I got a second opinion and he said he didnt see infection eithr.Did the same glove thing and he said well that is coming from the infection.Ahah.I said but you just said I didn't have one.I had been getting outside info from a friend I have known since I was 3.She has worked in oral surgery for over 35 years and said I am telling you that if he has had you on Clindamyacin 8 monthst,you have an infection.So I finally found a third doctor and she just made common sense.I asked her to do cultures.She did them and they revealed 2 infections.Yeast and Staph.She had to cut around the implant to clean it all out and then she stiched the skin around that implant.And this was done at Shands Hospital.In the surgery dept.My question is this.How much longer do you suppose I have to endure this emabbassing face.I look like a Halloween pumkin.It makes me look 87 instead of 57.I have done everything doctors have told me to do and I have been taken over the hill one too many times.Would you with just this much evidence that I ask for the 15 thousand dollars back for implants I cant wear and caused me to spend nearly 2 years inside.It has been an overwhelming ordeal.Do you think this oral surgeon should be reported to the Dental Board.Do you think I should get an attorney because I would never had done this if I knew that this was going to turn out like this.I go back to see her for a 3 week post op check up.But she did do as I asked and she told me the truth.I also need reconstructive surgery and how much is that going to cost me.I have practically no bone left.I am not one who usually sues people but I think that I have paid the price of going through that many oral surgeries to have nothing to show for it.I stay hungry all the time because I cannot put the teeth in.Would you consider this long period of time without doing a culture malpractice?I am not asking for a committment here.Just off the record,what would you do?
