Can I apply for L1 and go to US with B1 at the same time?

Can I apply for L1 visa and then go to US on a B1 visa for 2 months, so that by the time I come back, the petition for L1 would have been processed?

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

For the various rules and regulations having to do with US visas, go to this web page. This is the official web page from the US Department of State.

Thanks, but the website does not say anything in specific about my query. I am a resident of India and have applied for the L1 visa. It will take about 6-8 weeks to get that processed. I, however, need to travel to US now for a business meet. Can I attend the business meet on my B1 visa? I mean... is there a restriction that stops you from traveling to US on one visa type if you've already applied for another visa?

The web site that I normally use for questions having to do with any inquiries about visas is this web site.

In your situation, I used the following information:

"L classification applies to intracompany transferees who, within the three preceding years, have been employed abroad continuously for one year, and who will be employed by a branch, parent, affiliate, or subsidiary of that same employer in the U.S. in a managerial, executive, or specialized knowledge capacity;"

Since your requirements are different then what is stated here, I think you need to contact the nearest US embassy or consulate and ask them how your situation should can be resolved. This way you will get an answer from them that should be 100% correct. Let me know how it works out for you.
