To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

Sorry, I am confused. Before I can answer your questions I need to know the following: First off what country are you a citizen of? Will you be departing from that country when traveling to the United States? Do you have a current visa? Do you have a current passport?

The US State Department web site that deals with visas can be found on this web page.

Ive a Filipino passport, but a resident of Belgium for the past 3 years now. I now have a renewed Filipino passport with a married name. Still have my old (single status also Filipino) expired passport with a 10 year US visa (which will only expire September 2009). We will be leaving in two weeks time (no time to get another visa if needed) for a 2 week US trip. Can I still use my visa from the old passport. I will of course bring both passports with me. Would bringing a copy of marriage certificate help?

Since your situation is more complicated then usual, I don't want to give you any wrong information. To be 100% sure, talk to the officials at the closest US embassy or consulate as soon as possible and they will tell you if the documents you have are okay or not. Since you are leaving in two weeks,  and because of the holidays, do this now!

I've called up the us consular and told them my case. A valid visa in an expired (single status) passport. I was told to bring my new passport (valid, with married name), old passport with the valid visa (visa is undamaged) and a marriage certificate (proof for change of name) and show it to the immigration officer. Well, I'll be flying off next week, i'll see what'll happen. hope everything goes right. I'll let you know, for future reference.

Glad to hear that you were able to get everything in order. Enjoy your vacation, and like you said, let me know how things went.
