Anyone with an anxiety disorder should seek treatment. If left untreated, it can lead to other health concerns.

Having an anxiety disorder means that your life has been affected and a person starts doing things differently in a negative way because of the anxiety disorder.

I can't speak for everyone but the reason I sought treatment was due to the disabling effect it had on me. It cause racing thoughts, no sleep, not being able to eat and not thinking clearly..Mine was also accompanied by severve depression so in order to keep from doing something to hurt myself it had to be addressed. I still take a low dose of anxiety meds 20 years later, along with anti depressants, and when I feel that ever so familiar knot in my stomach I know there is someone out there (a therapist) who can help me to overcome it or find the right treatment to deal with the problem that is the root of the anxiety.

imagine a mind free of weakness and figments of our imagination...imagine a mind free of stress and manipulation...Imagine our full potential when we shread the chains of deitys and gods alike...Only then will we empower our self and Open a new door away from death , decay and wrong doing, Let us unite as one and push forth towards the stars let us make new friends and love different species. why not? cause your still bound by the chains of god.

look at the question, thats a question someone addicted to valium would ask so that they could come up with more bullshit ideas to get a perscription off there doctors, trust me my friends have all asked me the same question cause they wanted the stuff.  (i could be wrong) but my gut feelings are nortorious for statistically being 95% correct.

not sure who or what your reply was aimed it, sounds like you have had a few to many  to drink <3 nah nah jks jks, trying to rise a smile nothing more. um well it is actually probably not addictive but more dependency based , other medical professionals may agree that its addictive some not . but I know one thing, the reason why people lie to doctors to get the tablet just to chill out, shows one of 2 things, that there either addicted or dependent on valium or as i would call it a mentality addiction, caused by you believeing that you need it to feel normal;)

Well it sounds as if you think you have all the answers, both Betsy and myself answered the question we are not here to diagnose anyone and neither should you. You don't know mjschadd from a hole in the wall so because you know people who are addicted don't go putting everyone in the same catagory. Besides it is not just valuim that is prescribed for anxiety, there is klonopin, xanax, adivan just to name a few. I did not see any thing in that question asking about valuim.. I thought the reason we were on this website was to try and help not to place blame.

We make a Living by what we get, We make a Life by what we give.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Great job bbella!!!!!!!!!!  I actually deleted my post as I was agitated by the valium remark.  I apologize for even allowing myself to become annoyed by that valium post.  You are absolutely right.  Anxiety attacks are horrible and I have depression also.  I certainly am not a doctor, but have plenty of experience with both and some......  I hope you get the help that you need mjschadd. You can seek help from your doctor or a neurologist.  I would recommend the neurologist as anxiety attacks come from a chemical imbalance in the brain.

Anxiety and fear are not considered normal if they constantly interfere with daily life or cause a person to become irrational and suffer from constant worry. Anxiety disorders thus refer to an uncomfortable and unpleasant emotional tension with no apparent cause. Many individuals with anxiety disorders seek help in the form of self-medicating themselves through either drugs or alcohol. After doing this over a period of time, the person suffering from anxiety might then become addicted. As a result, many turn to dual diagnosis treatment programs in order to aid rehabilitation.
