738.72 sq. in. is 57% of one square yard. Or 5.13 sq. ft.

This question is a bit nebulous without the width of the cloth being stated.

The width of the fabric is 54" wide

(54")(1'/12")=4.5'

(3')(3')=9 sq. ft.

(9 sq. ft.)(4.5')=2 feet

My father taught me to always put the units on the numbers invoked in calculations. I don't, of course, always do this.
